West Des Moines Community Schools is developing a Facilities Master Plan that will serve as a roadmap for ensuring its school facilities support its mission:

All 13 WDMCS school buildings will have upgrades or remodeling done as part of the master plan. WDMCS currently has eight elementary buildings, two junior high buildings, a ninth-grade building, alternative high school, and 10-12 high school.



Students served.

WDMCS serves approximately 9,000 students in pre-kindergarten through high school. The eight elementary buildings serve 4,700 students. Indian Hills and Stilwell junior highs serve 1,300 seventh and eighth-graders. The three secondary buildings serve approximately 3,000 high school students.




WDMCS employs approximately 650 certified staff, 550 support staff, and 36 administrators.
